Hi, my name is Jon, and I would prefer if we talk more about why I launched the BeautyBeatsCancer. When most of us think of “cancer,” we often imagine the health condition that affects us directly and indirectly. Yes, that is correct, but I’d like to introduce a broader perspective on what I consider to be “cancer.”
A cancer is any challenging situation that hinders one’s ability to enjoy life to its fullest. It can be an experience of limitations or a life-altering traumatic moment that robs someone of their expectations and hopes for the future. Although these experiences may not be as terminal as the health condition that shares the name, they still represent life-altering battles we face in our lives.
The mission of BeautyBeatsCancer is simple: to remind people that life is beautiful because of them. That’s it.
Who We Want to Help
Originally, our goal was to deliver hair units to patients experiencing hair loss due to various health conditions. However, we soon realized that life often takes us through unexpected and painful challenges. As we developed the organization, we felt the need to expand our mission to provide comfort and support in a different way.
We decided to offer haircuts at facilities to uplift individuals facing difficult and challenging experiences. This led to the introduction of BeautyBeatsCancer to any facility willing to host our hair-cutting services, including youth centers, senior living facilities, and assisted living facilities. Our aim is to bring a sense of beauty and dignity to those who need it most, reminding them that they are valued and loved.
Why We Want to Help Them
We want to remind everyone that beauty has a remarkable ability to uplift us instantly. Many of us, and our loved ones, may feel forgotten or have lost sight of who they are while battling cancer or a cancerous situation, which tests us emotionally, mentally, and physically. We want people to know that we see them and to show them who we see when we see them. Ensuring them that they are not forgotten while on what may be the most challenging journey of their lives.
